[PTS] Battle Showdown: Luna V.S. Sol
Luna sighed as she rode her bike downtown. Today, she was going to attempt to challenge the leader of the Aurora faction, Sol. Every year or so, Sol and Rhia would gather in a stadium downtown and challenge other trainers for a chance to win great prizes. The only requirement was that you'd have to have a full team of Pokemon to participate, five Pokemon besides your starter. Luna would've participated last year, but she didn't have a full team of Pokemon yet. Now, thanks to multiple trade deals, Luna had been able to obtain five Pokemon to accompany Archie. The rest of her team consisted of Kankuro the Drowzee, Marian the Misdreavus, Shelley the Sliggoo, Whisper the Vanillite, and Bob the Psyduck.Luna eventually arrived at the stadium where she took a seat in the crowd. Her Pokemon were not with her sadly. She was forced to turn them in at the entrance. She asked why this was mandatory, and the guard replied saying that people have tried to sneak in extra Pokemon for the event in which they had to cancel it all together. She was also required to put on a special Eventide shirt to specify which team she was apart of. Luna put off her jacket and pulled the Eventide shirt over her original t-shirt. Luna sighed once more as she now sat alone in the Eventide section of the stadium, staring at the big T.V. screens introducing the faction leaders. She felt so outcast without her Pokemon with her. They were the only things that she could really trust. Getting back to her Pokemon was the only thing driving her forward as she patiently waited for her turn to battle. Lots of people were called up to battle the leaders, but none had succeeded yet. Luna fumbled with her fingers as she watched the list of trainers get smaller and smaller as they were called up. The list was alphabetized, so it would be a while before she got called up. Halfway through the list, she glanced up at the list of trainers who had succeeded. There were five unfamiliar names on the list. Luna was surprised. She had assumed that no one would be able to beat the faction leaders. The five winners were standing on a slightly raised platform, high-fiving each other and showing off their wide grins. "They must be really good friends," Luna thought to herself. Thirty more minutes and it was finally Luna's turn. Eager to battle and get it over with, Luna took the Pokeballs containing her Pokemon and walked over to her place in front of Aurora leader, Sol. Sol smiled as Luna "stepped up to bat." "Alright, this is how this battle is gonna go through," Sol explained. "You can use your entire Pokemon team for this battle, but I will only be using this Pokemon! COME ON OUT, AURORA ESPEON!" Sol threw his Aurora themed Pokeball, revealing a beautiful Espeon blazing with Aurora's team colors. Luna had to say that the Pokemon looked beautiful and powerful, but it was no match for her new team. One Pokemon wouldn't stand a chance against a whole team! Or so, she thought... "Alright then, I'll be sending out Kankuro!" Luna shouted triumphantly as she threw her Pokeball to reveal her Drowzee. Sol smiled and beckoned for her to make her move. Luna wasn't sure if he was mocking her or just being friendly, but she couldn't lose this battle. She could see herself standing proudly on top of that platform with the others, smiling and waving. Luna swallowed as she diminished the thought, concentrating on the battle. "Now Kankuro, use Hypnosis!" Luna exclaimed hoping that Sol's Espeon would fall asleep giving her time to come up with a proper strategy. Unfortunately, despite the probability of the attack hitting being above 50, the attack missed and the Aurora Espeon was left wide awake. Luna frowned and patted Kankuro on the head so that he wouldn't feel bad about the missed attack. Sol then smiled and initiated his attack. "Go Espeon, use Bite!" Luna heard the attack. " Bite...that's not that bad..., " she thought as the attack went through. Luna seemed to blink and when she opened her eyes again, her Pokemon was knocked out! She blinked multiple times, not being able to process what had just happened. Kankuro was knocked out? IN A SINGLE ATTACK!?!? Luna pinched herself a couple of times until she heard Sol break out in laughter. "Sorry 'bout that! But yeah, what you just saw was plenty real!" Sol said once he had collected himself. "I'm sorry, but I won't be going easy on you!" Luna was still shaken as she summoned out her Misdreavus. No matter what she did, the Aurora Espeon beat every Pokemon she used until she was down to only one, her starter, Archie. With overwhelming confidence, she shouted at the top of her lungs, "COME ON OUT! ARCHIE!" The heavy-hearted Archen had seen how much Luna was struggling and wanted to help as much as he could. He let out a battle cry as he stretched out his wings, ready to battle with all of his heart and strength. Somehow, inside Luna's heart, she could hear her Pokemon cheering her on. She took a breath and opened her mouth and shouted triumphantly, "OK, ARCHIE! USE WING ATTACK!" Archie successfully carried out the move, dealing damage to Sol's Espeon. Luna's heart filled with hope, even just for a second. She thought, for a brief moment, that she could actually win this, but, of course, it was not to be. On Sol's turn, his Espeon used Bite once again to absolutely destroy Archie. Luna sadly watched as Archie slowly was zapped back into his Pokeball, badly hurt. Luna couldn't bare to look up at Sol's smiling face until he held out his hand to her. She hesitantly took it and got up as Sol whispered in her ear, "Meet me by the back entrance at the end of the battles." The battles finally ended an hour later. Nobody had succeeded except for the five from earlier who had received their respective rewards. Sol smiled as he noticed Luna scuttling across the concrete to him. When she had arrived, Sol looked her in the eyes and said, "Hey! I just wanted to say that your performance earlier almost brought me to tears! You worked with your Pokemon SO well, especially your Archen. He looked really worried about you...Promise me you'll come back to see me once your team is a little stronger." And with that, Sol walked away while Luna walked home in the opposite direction, staring down at her Eventide shirt. Secretly, even though she would never admit it, she badly wanted to see him again as well.
